About Dielectric Nipples, Unions & Fittings

A dielectric union is a type of plumbing fitting used to connect pipes made of different metals while preventing galvanic corrosion. Galvanic corrosion occurs when two dissimilar metals come into contact with each other in the presence of an electrolyte (such as water), leading to corrosion and degradation of the metals.

The dielectric union is installed between the two metal pipes that need to be connected. The threaded ends of the union are connected to the respective pipes, while the dielectric fitting is sandwiched between them. The union provides a reliable and leak-free connection, while the dielectric fitting ensures electrical isolation between the metals.

Features and Benefits:

  1. Corrosion Prevention: Dielectric unions effectively prevent galvanic corrosion by isolating dissimilar metals. By creating a barrier between different metals, they eliminate the electrolytic action that causes corrosion, ensuring the longevity of your plumbing system.

  2. Dual Material Construction: They feature a unique design with two different materials, typically brass and steel, separated by a dielectric insulating material. This combination of materials ensures a reliable connection while effectively preventing galvanic corrosion.

  3. Easy Installation: Dielectric unions are designed for easy installation. They have standard pipe threads and can be easily connected to existing plumbing systems or fittings. Their versatility allows for seamless integration into various applications.

  4. Wide Range of Sizes: We offer a comprehensive range of sizes to accommodate different pipe diameters and applications. Whether you need a small residential fitting or a larger industrial union, we have the right size to meet your requirements.

  5. Durable and Long-Lasting: They are constructed from high-quality materials, ensuring durability and long-term performance. They can withstand the rigors of plumbing systems, including high pressure, temperature variations, and exposure to chemicals.

  6. Code Compliance: Of course all of these parts meet or exceed industry standards and are compliant with relevant plumbing codes. You can trust our products to meet the necessary requirements for your plumbing projects.

Common Applications:

  • Water supply systems: Use dielectric unions to connect copper pipes to galvanized steel pipes and prevent corrosion.
  • HVAC systems: Protect your heating and cooling systems by using dielectric unions to connect dissimilar metals in the piping network.
  • Industrial applications: Prevent corrosion in industrial plumbing systems by utilizing dielectric unions in connecting various metal pipes or fittings.
